Layers

Sometimes, to accommodate those around us we blend in. We suppress who were are or want to be to coexist with others who are merely existing, but not living. We layer ourselves in lies, fantasies and subjective experiences that have yet to happen to keep our true selves quiet and hushed down. Everyone has many layers to them. There’s who people see us as, who we want to be, who we thought we were, who we will become and who we are. This is me taking it all off. Un-layering myself from the assimilating and harboring of other peoples conjectures of me. Unraveling the pain, the hurt, the denial and strangulation of my trying to succeed and fit in while still juggling being myself. I stand here naked in all that I am, all that I was and all that I’ve always been. Standing in those same conditions, struggles those layers that I’ve been wearing for years that have made camp in my body consuming my molecular make-up in the same screams that were muted by those same people around me. Finding yourself is an adventure that you could bring people along with or enjoy by yourself. But it’s a beautiful thing. Growth mindset is the understanding that abilities and intelligence can be developed. And a fixed mindset is people believing that their qualities are fixed traits and therefore cannot change. Take off those layers and watch you push through all the rubble that was oppressing you. And bloom into that beautiful flower you are. With no layers. Just you. Just you.
